Elijah the Emu
God is always with you
Meet Eli, a young emu who discovers that with God, he is never truly alone. Deep in the Australian outback lives an adventurous young emu named Elijah—although everyone calls him Eli. After spending time exploring on his own, Eli begins to miss his family and decides it's time to make the journey home. But when Eli finds himself surrounded by a pack of dingoes beside a rushing river, their frightened voices begin to fill his mind: “You can't do it!” “You'll drown!” “Give up!” For a moment, Eli starts to believe them. Then he remembers the true Bible account of the prophet Elijah standing against 450 prophets of Baal. Elijah may have appeared to stand alone—but God was with him. Suddenly Eli realizes that he isn't alone either. A courageous story that teaches children to trust God's Word even when everyone around them says something different—and to remember that wherever they go, God is always with them.
What Children Will Learn
Through Eli's adventure, children will learn that just because lots of people believe or say something doesn't make it true. God's Word is always trustworthy, even when following it means being different or standing alone. Children will also discover that they don't need to be controlled by fear when they face difficult situations. Like Elijah on Mount Carmel—and Eli at the river—they can have courage because God is with His children and will never leave them.
